Volo, Guide to Monsters is a Simic commander from Adventures in the Forgotten Realms built around the most rewarding creature diversity mechanic in the format. Whenever you cast a creature spell, if no other creature on the battlefield or in any graveyard shares a creature type with it, Volo creates a token copy of that creature — doubling every ETB trigger, every enter-the-battlefield body, every value creature that hits the board for the first time. The guide rewards running the widest possible creature type spread, turning deckbuilding variety into a perpetual doubling engine.
The deck is constructed around maximum creature type diversity: one of each powerful tribe represented by the single best creature that type has to offer, ETB effects worth copying that generate value the moment they enter, and enough card draw and tutors to find the right creature at the right moment. Every new creature type added to the battlefield is a guaranteed free copy — and in a format where entering-the-battlefield effects are the most powerful repeatable effects available, getting every single one twice is a game-winning advantage hiding inside a bestiary.
