Skullbriar, the Walking Grave is a Golgari commander from Commander 2011 with the most persistent counter accumulation in the format. Whenever Skullbriar deals combat damage to a player, he gets a +1/+1 counter. And those counters stay on him everywhere — in the graveyard, in exile, in the command zone. Every time Skullbriar dies and returns, he comes back exactly as big as he left. Tax him back from the command zone ten times and he still has every counter he ever earned. The grave is not a reset. It's a waiting room.
The deck is built around growing Skullbriar as fast as possible and swinging for commander damage before opponents find enough removal to matter: proliferate effects that multiply existing counters without requiring combat, haste enablers that guarantee an attack the turn he lands, and enough protection and recursion to ensure every removal attempt just sends him briefly to the waiting room before he returns angrier and unchanged. A Skullbriar with twenty counters costs two mana to recast and comes back a 22/22. The math never resets — it only accumulates.
