Saruman, the White Hand is a Grixis commander from the Tales of Middle-earth Commander decks built around the amass mechanic and spell copying at its most politically devastating. Whenever you cast or copy an instant or sorcery, you amass Orcs X where X is that spell's mana value — growing an ever-larger Orc Army token that becomes the primary combat threat. And whenever an opponent casts a noncreature spell, you may copy it and you choose new targets. Their removal becomes your removal. Their draw spell becomes your draw spell. Their combo piece fires twice — once for them and once aimed directly back at them.

The deck is constructed around both axes simultaneously: a dense instant and sorcery package that grows the Orc Army rapidly through amass triggers, and enough interaction to guarantee opponents cast the most valuable noncreature spells possible for Saruman to copy at maximum impact. The White Hand doesn't need to outbuild the table. He just needs to wait for someone else to do something worth stealing — and in Commander, someone always does.
