Nicol Bolas, the Ravager is a Grixis commander from Core Set 2019 that arrives as a legendary Dragon and transforms into one of the most powerful planeswalkers ever printed. The moment he enters the battlefield, each opponent discards a card — stripping resources from every player at the table simultaneously before a single mana of his cost has been recouped. For eight mana he flips into Nicol Bolas, the Arisen: drawing cards, exiling permanents, reanimating from any graveyard, and an ultimate that steals everything opponents control. The elder dragon doesn't just win — he dismantles every game plan at the table and replaces it with his own.
The deck is built around getting Bolas flipped as efficiently as possible and exploiting both halves of his card: discard synergies that profit from the enter-the-battlefield strip, reanimation effects that cheat the eight-mana flip cost and bring him back repeatedly, and a Grixis control shell with enough interaction to protect him through the turns required to activate the planeswalker abilities. Every opponent at the table is playing into a five-thousand-year-old trap. They just don't know which part of it is the real plan.
