Neriv is a Mardu commander built around explosive combat, haste pressure, and creatures that can deal damage the moment they arrive. His ability says that if a creature you control that entered this turn would deal damage, it deals twice that much damage instead. That means haste creatures, token makers with immediate impact, and creatures with enter-the-battlefield damage effects all become far more dangerous the turn they show up. Scryfall’s rulings also clarify that the damage is still dealt by the original source, which matters for burn-style creature effects and combat triggers.

This deck is built around Mardu aggro and burst damage: creatures that attack right away, token pressure that scales with Neriv’s effect, and support cards that turn one explosive turn into lethal damage. EDHREC currently groups Neriv most strongly with Aggro, Tokens, and Burn, which fits a strategy built on dropping threats, attacking immediately, and making every fresh creature hit twice as hard.
