Melek, Reforged Researcher is an Izzet commander from March of the Machine built around the most consistent top-of-library spell copying engine the format has ever produced. You may look at the top card of your library at any time — and whenever you cast an instant or sorcery from the top of your library, you copy it. Every spell cast from the top is two spells. Every cantrip that reveals itself becomes a double cantrip that draws into the next one. The research compounds on itself turn after turn until the chain generates more value than the entire rest of the table combined.
The deck is built around maximizing the number of instants and sorceries cast directly from the top of the library: library manipulation that stacks the right spell on top before each cast, cheap cantrips that chain from the top into the next reveal, and enough high-impact spells at the top of the curve that copying one ends the game on the spot. Opponents interacting with individual spells find two copies already resolving. The researcher doesn't run out of material — the library is the laboratory and every card in it is an experiment worth running twice.
