Marvo, Deep Operative is a Simic commander from Duskmourn built around the most precise counter-to-free-cast conversion engine the format has produced in years. Whenever you put one or more counters on Marvo, you may exile the top card of your library — and you may cast it without paying its mana cost if its mana value is less than or equal to the number of counters on Marvo. Every counter added expands the range of free casts available. A Marvo with ten counters casts anything at mana value ten or less for free from the top of the library — which in a format where the most broken spells cost seven to nine mana is effectively unrestricted access to the best card in the deck every time a counter lands.
The deck is built around stacking counters on Marvo as aggressively as possible: proliferate effects that add multiple counters per activation, cheap counter sources that fire repeatedly throughout the turn cycle, and a high-impact spell package at the top of the curve that becomes free the moment Marvo's counter total reaches the relevant threshold. The operation gets deeper every turn — and the deeper it goes, the more catastrophic the free cast becomes.
