The deck is constructed around exploiting that asymmetry completely: effects that mitigate or eliminate your own life payment, ways to abuse the tutoring ability multiple times per turn, and enough stax and control pieces to ensure opponents can't leverage the one card per turn they're allowed to search for before the game ends. The fae don't share power — they hoard it behind locked doors and call it ascension.
