Not just opponents — everyone. But Liesa's deck is built to profit from that drain while opponents bleed out from their own spellcasting. Lifegain offsets your losses. Aristocrats and drain effects amplify theirs. The tax becomes asymmetric in your favor before opponents realize what the table is actually playing.
The deck leverages Liesa's evasion and lifelink alongside the life payment engine: high-density lifegain to counteract the universal drain, life-to-card-advantage effects that turn your buffer into resources, and enough removal and recursion to keep Liesa threatening in combat every turn. The longer the game goes and the more spells get cast, the more the life total gap widens — until opponents can no longer afford to answer anything at all.
