Kotis, the Fangkeeper is a Sultai commander built around evasive pressure, combat damage, and casting your opponents’ cards for free. Kotis is indestructible, which already makes it hard to answer cleanly, but the real payoff comes when it deals combat damage to a player: you exile the top X cards of that player’s library, where X is the amount of damage dealt, and you may cast any number of spells with mana value X or less from among them without paying their mana costs. Official rulings also clarify that you cast those spells while the ability is resolving, so the deck naturally rewards ways to make Kotis hit harder and connect more reliably.
This deck is built around Sultai combat-theft synergy: evasion and pump effects to increase Kotis’s damage output, support cards that help it connect safely, and value pieces that let you keep stealing momentum from the top of opposing libraries. EDHREC currently groups Kotis most strongly with Voltron, Theft, and Equipment themes, which fits a strategy built on making one attacker matter and turning each successful hit into a burst of free spells.
