Ghalta, Primal Hunger is a mono-green commander from Rivals of Ixalan and the most efficient cost reduction engine the color has ever produced on a single card. Her generic mana cost is reduced by the total power of creatures you control — meaning a board of creatures with twelve or more total power makes Ghalta cost exactly two mana. A 12/12 with trample arriving on turn three or four is not a threat opponents have a framework to handle, and every subsequent cast after a board wipe costs less than the last one because green replaces power faster than any other color in the format.
The deck is built around establishing high-power boards as fast as possible and then converting that power into a free Ghalta: one and two mana creatures with disproportionate power-to-cost ratios that maximize the cost reduction immediately, haste enablers that guarantee Ghalta attacks the turn she lands, and enough ramp and recursion to rebuild the cost reduction engine after every board wipe. Opponents spending removal on Ghalta find her back on the battlefield for two mana the following turn. The hunger doesn't stop — it just gets cheaper every time it comes back.
