Ardbert is an Orzhov commander built around legendary creatures, +1/+1 counters, and aggressive board scaling. Whenever you cast a white spell, you put a +1/+1 counter on each legendary creature you control and they gain vigilance until end of turn. Whenever you cast a black spell, you put a +1/+1 counter on each legendary creature you control and they gain menace until end of turn. That means even your normal support spells help grow your entire legendary board while making combat harder for opponents to manage. Scryfall’s rulings also note that these abilities resolve before the spell that triggered them, so you still get the counters and keywords even if that spell gets countered.
This deck is built around Orzhov legends and counters synergy: legendary creatures that scale well with repeated counters, cheap white and black spells to keep Ardbert’s triggers flowing, and support pieces that turn vigilance and menace into real combat pressure.
