Every attack in this deck is meant to leave something behind. Zurgo, Thunder’s Decree turns one combat step into a growing Warrior army that does not disappear at end step. Mobilize 2 means that whenever Zurgo attacks, you create two tapped and attacking 1/1 red Warrior creature tokens. Normally those tokens would be sacrificed at the beginning of the next end step, but Zurgo changes that during your end step by giving your Warrior tokens “This token can’t be sacrificed.” That makes him a perfect Mardu commander for a deck built around going wide, attacking constantly, and keeping token pressure on the battlefield.
This deck is built around Mardu Warrior and token synergy: aggressive creatures that keep combat pressure high, anthem and token payoffs that make each attack stronger, and support cards that help Zurgo turn temporary attackers into permanent board presence. EDHREC currently groups Zurgo most strongly with Tokens, Aggro, and Warriors, which fits a strategy built on snowballing combat and overwhelming the table through repeated attack steps.
