Melee means she gets +1/+1 until end of turn for each opponent you attacked with one or more creatures, so the deck naturally rewards attacking across the table instead of focusing on a single player. Scryfall’s rules notes also clarify that you count opponents you attacked, not the number of creatures you sent at them, which makes wide combat steps especially efficient with her.
This deck is built around Naya aggro and extra-combat pressure: cheap creatures to spread attacks around, combat support that helps Tifa hit harder, and payoff pieces that turn one strong swing into another. Current EDHREC data most strongly associates Tifa, Martial Artist with Extra Combats, Aggro, and +1/+1 Counters, which fits a strategy built on snowballing combat and keeping pressure high every turn.
