Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer is a Sultai commander from Commander 2019 built around the most information-asymmetric strategy the format has ever fully supported. The first face-down creature you cast each turn costs zero mana — and whenever a face-down creature enters the battlefield under your control, you draw a card. Every Morph and Manifest deployed for free replaces itself immediately, flooding the board with identical-looking 2/2 threats that opponents cannot distinguish from each other. Every face-down creature is a puzzle opponents must solve before it resolves — and they never have enough information to solve it correctly.
The deck is built around the deepest Morph creature package Sultai can assemble: powerful Morph creatures with devastating flip abilities that punish opponents for failing to answer them before they turn face up, cost reduction effects that make even the non-free Morphs arrive ahead of schedule, and enough library manipulation to ensure the most impactful Morph is always available for the free first cast each turn. The board fills with face-down threats. Opponents guess wrong. The sorcerer slips through every defense and the reveals end games.
