Indominus Rex, Alpha is a Sultai commander built around creature keywords, graveyard setup, and explosive customization. As Indominus Rex enters the battlefield, you discard any number of creature cards, then it enters with different counters depending on the abilities those discarded creatures had — including flying, menace, first strike, deathtouch, lifelink, hexproof, reach, trample, and vigilance. It also draws you a card for each card discarded this way, turning the setup into immediate card flow while loading your graveyard for later value. Scryfall’s rulings also note that it only gets one of each kind of counter, even if you discard multiple creatures with the same ability.
This deck is built around Sultai keyword synergy: creatures packed with useful abilities, graveyard support that turns discarded threats into future value, and a Voltron-style gameplan where Indominus quickly becomes a huge, evasive, hard-to-answer finisher.
