Grist, the Hunger Tide is a Golgari planeswalker commander from Modern Horizons 2 — and uniquely, a planeswalker that counts as a creature in every zone except the battlefield, making it a legal commander. Her plus ability mills a card and creates a 1/1 black and green Insect token for each creature milled. Her minus destroys a creature or planeswalker while draining one life per Insect you control. Her ultimate mills half a library and returns every creature from your graveyard to the battlefield simultaneously.

The deck is built around the Insect token army Grist generates through repeated plus activations: mill effects that load the graveyard with creatures to trigger additional token creation, sacrifice outlets that convert the Insect swarm into drain damage through the minus ability, and enough graveyard synergies to ensure every creature milled becomes a resource rather than a loss. The hunger tide doesn't peak — it rises one mill trigger at a time until the graveyard is full enough to end the game in a single ultimate activation that puts everything back onto the battlefield at once.
