Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm is a mono-black Rat tribal commander from Modern Horizons 3 built around the most resilient rodent army the format has ever seen. Ashcoat mills cards whenever Rats enter the battlefield under your control, and lets you cast Rat cards directly from your graveyard — turning every board wipe into a temporary inconvenience and every removal spell into a minor delay. The swarm doesn't need to survive. It just needs to keep coming back.
The deck runs the full Rat package: cheap Rats that replace themselves immediately, lords that turn the swarm into a lethal force, and enough sacrifice outlets to trigger graveyard recursion on demand. The mill engine loads the graveyard fast while Ashcoat converts that graveyard into an endless supply of threats. Opponents clearing the board find another wave already on the way up from the depths.
